2020 was a difficult year for many non-profits – as unemployment grew to historic levels, fundraising for typical live, in-person events became extremely difficult. JDRF was faced with the challenge of hosting their annual “OneWalk” (Walk to Cure Type 1 Diabetes) during this crisis but wanted to do it in a virtual setting with multiple guests while maintaining the high quality that JDRF continually delivers.

Route 7 Media rose to this challenge in helping JDRF host their annual walk, virtually, through a Facebook Live broadcast, hosted by WJLA / ABC7’s Eileen Whelan. Marty Zager worked with the team to develop a dynamic and engaging program broadcast to JDRF supporters. RT7 developed a mixture of pre-produced and live content to be broadcast on their virtual walk day — the event was a tremendous success and raised over $500,000 to support type 1 diabetes research.

Route 7 Media’s unique technology solutions allowed for multiple guests to be included in the livestream, quickly and easily from their homes, via mobile and desktop devices. In addition viewers’ comments could be quickly displayed on-screen, driving further engagement with the live programming.
